How much speed do I need?

I only have 1 choice for broadband internet. And as expected they are over priced. My question is how much do I need if my normal usage is 1 online game and maybe a streaming movie off youtube at the same time.

Well.. I'd say Premium Plus is probably would be the minimum I'd get, but I'd probably aim towards the Elite or Elite Plus myself. I've got 20M down 1.5M up for $43.95 a month with Time Warner so those prices aren't too bad.

maybe I am spoiled. When I had Cox in Phoenix I had a 14+ mb up and 5 down

just depends on how much you download? if you DL while sitting at the desk then you want as much speed as you can.

but if your like me and use the line just for gaming and some DL's I could get buy with just 5mbs down easy.(its like 25d/7up now)

what i care about is ping and you cant buy that in tiers

When you say need and put it that way, you wont need much at all. Gaming using a rather small amount of bandwidth, the most hungry portion of it coming from large games like BF2, with lots of activity and VOIP. This still only amounts to maybe 128kbps tops. Video streaming is extremely variable. The "HD" streams are quite demanding at 6-15Mbps to really keep up without a ton of buffering moments.

Based on those packages, you get a fair deal with the top end package as long as you got their phone service. If that middle column is your price without phone, those packages are pretty expensive.

If you download and watch it's progress, you need quantum internet. Which stops time, downloads the file, and starts time again.

It appears Don Vito must be in a DOCSIS 3 area.
