Thread: Powerline Networking

Just finished setting up the powerline network...



This thing is blazingly fast!! FINALLY!!! I dont have to sit and wait for ever and a day to have a website load! According to task manager, the link speed is 100mbps, so the slowest link is my ISP. But point is though... I no longer have to suffer through agony of like <56k to MAAYYYBE 1.4mb/s with steam. :10 :10 :10 :10

Its real easy Heavy, all you have to do is choose a wall outlet (MUST BE A WALL OUTLET) thats near the computer, plug in the unit, plug in the cat5e cable in, plug it into a router into the number 2 or 3 slot, and repeat for your other computers. Except your other computers plug from the wall and adapter, direct to the computer.

So easy, a caveman can do it!

Glad it worked for you also... Can't beat it for a portable fast solution.

I am sold! I will be ordering my parts soon. I need to network 3 rooms and most of the kits I have seen come with 2 wall adapters. I will have to do some shopping.

just get the 2 products I linked to. When I opened the pamphlet, it listed a couple verstions that were compatible. Mine are in the compatible family. Whats iteresting though, is that it only uses 2 prongs, and not the 3 with a ground. Hmmmmm...... I WOULD LOVE to know the science/math behind this. Oh dexxy poo.... care to enlighten us?

They are using the Neutral (the white wire) to carry the signal. The neutral is bonded to the grounding system(along with the plumbing)system of the house (usually in the panel or the meter socket...same diff),and is essentially a "working" ground. The third prong( ground) is purely safety based.

Essentially,what these things seem to do is use the grounding system of the house as sort of a conductor/antennae.

But wires are still better....because I get paid to run them. Glad it worked for you ,Pote.....no more dropped calls on Oovoo :9

Yes and mine works great... I get 25 MB downstairs and about 22MB upstairs using the adapter. It literaly plugs into the wall. Best thing is you can move it around the house to any plug and it will re-connect.
