Re: Anandtech: The HTC Droid Incredible Review, Clearly Better than the Nexus One
Maria Wars? WOW!
I got the Incredible the day it was available (May 1). It's EASILY the best phone I've ever had. The one lacking thing that all the other phones had in comparison to the iPhone... was the UI. The iPhone's UI, despite everything else it had wrong about it, was AWESOME. The incredible gives me back everything I missed about the iPhone and added an OS that I can do anything I want with.
The 1Ghz snapdragon processor is easily twice as fast as my buddy's droid (not sure exactly which one). Even he was going "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW FAST IT IS!" It's roughly the same size as the iPhone... Maybe a bit smaller in width. The 8MP camera takes PHENOMENAL pictures for a cell phone. Video is pretty good too (640x480). The android market isn't quite as big as the iPhone market, but it's more than adequate and I can write my own apps for it without having to worry that Steve Jobs is going to tell me I can't run them.
Replacing the trackball on a lot of android machines is an OPTICAL joystick. Not entirely sure about it's mechanics... but it's pretty slick. Just swipe your finger across it's sensor and it acts just like the trackballs. I thought it was going to be a bit crappy, but I played one of those old snake games (run around the screen eating fruit and growing your snake) and as it got faster and faster I kept thinking it was going to have some sort of lag at some point... That it was going to show that it just wasn't going to be very accurate... But when I finally lost the game and the snake was streaking across the screen, it was my own mistake that made me lose. It wasn't the joystick. I'm impressed.
I spent 200+ for early cancellation of my AT&T contract and another 200 for the phone + some wacky screen protector that's equally as awesome as the phone (self healing rubbery thing).. And it was worth every penny.
ONE complaint... The screen... totally unusable in bright sunlight. Can't see ANYTHING. Other than that... zero complaints.
