Re: What do you play on?
So I have been poking my nose into the hardware forum lately... I thought I ought to lay out my specs for all you technophiles out there.
I built it myself, it is my gaming rig, thats all it's for. I use my Laptop for almost everything else (school)
Case:
Older Antec full tower but slightly modded
-Nice thick steel
-2x80mm out back over IO plate
-2x80mm in front
-2x120mm intake on side panel
-2x120mm intake on top panel
-2x60mm output below PSU
-All fans are Vantec Stealth
-80mm connected to ASUS Qfan on Mobo
-All others connected to homebuilt rheostat and switches directly connected to PSU
PSU:
CoolMax CUG 700
-700 watt
-triple rail
-dedicated PCI express output rail
Mobo:
ASUS M2N32SLI-Deluxe Wireless Edition
CPU:
AMD 64 X2 5600+
-2.8Ghz Dual Core, 2x1Mb L2 Cache
-OCed to ~3.2 Ghz on occasion
-ThermalTake SilentBoost RX fan
RAM:
OCZ Platinum Revolution 2
-DDR2 800 Dual Channel
-2x2x1Gb Dual Channel Sets - 4096 Total
-occasionally OCed to ~950Mhz
Video:
2 eVGA 8800 GTS 640Mb
-configured in SLI
-BF2 performs better in single GPU mode though!
-Cant wait for real DX10 games and that extended frame buffer
Audio:
X-Fi Fatal1ty (original)
-7.1
-64Mb X-RAM
-Breakout box in 5.25" bay
-Remote control
ASUS High Definition on-board
-Only enabled so I can use the HD mic
Storage:
2 Seagate Barracuda SATA 160Gb 7200RPM
-running in RAID0 on NVRAID Array
-OS and Apps
1 WD caviar SATA 320Gb 7200RPM
-For safe storage!
LG DVD R/RW
Sony 56x CD ROM
3.5"floppy with built in 7 in 1 card reader (USB for reader)
sandisk 4Gb Flash Drive with Ready Boost
-inside hooked to open USB header
-Running in Ready Boost mode to increase OS paging
Monitor:
ViewSonic VX922
-19" LCD
-1280x1024
-2ms response rate
Speakers:
Zalman Home Theater *Headphones*
-these badboys actually have 3 speakers in each side
-5.1 headset, three plugs for front/rear/center
I/O:
ThermalTake Xaser Keyboard
WolfKing Warrior keypad
Logitech MX518 Mouse
X-Trac Hammer Optical Mouse Mat
Saitek ST290 Pro Stick
OS:
Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
All in all a pretty sweet if (relatively) inexpesnive rig.
I am ususally the one to start the 30 second timer in BF2, if not I usually get 28 or 22 seconds.
Obviously the power of my system is not reflected in my BF2 score!
I have not run 3dmark.. maybe I ought to eh?
I have built about 30 computers for family/friends this year alone
System building is one of my hobbies
