well was thinking 100 a month buy 1 part a month if its 100 2 if they are 50 but most likely i'm just gonna buy a gig of ram till i can save up bf2 dont run that bad just gets sluggish like hell in a big battle or in buildings

as for recycling i think if anything the hard drive dvd drive and maybe the power supply would be salvagable but dunno how parts mix and what not

I think you should save and buy all at once. It's really worth it if you can save the 100 a month. Let's set a goal for you and go for $500. In 5 months you will buy a new PC.

Is it SATA? (The HDD.)

If not, you'll have to scrap that too.

Also, if it's a Dell, the PSU will be pretty scrawny.

back in the day they used to be but they ditched that a long time ago due to user outage. Dell still, however, only puts the minimum parts necessary to run the system as they sell it. IE the power supply is likely minimal.

It used to be (like most OEMs) but not any longer. Though given that is still using AGP, that mobo is at least several years old (without having looked up the parts specifically).

But, I'd agree with Civ on the needing new "everything". I will also point out that buying at the bleeding edge is often more expensive than necessary. You can get a very useful system for not a lot of $$.
