The reviews I've read of the EVO are that the size of the phone is a bit unwieldy to keep in your pocket. The HTC/Droid Incredible gets more favorable reviews in that respect.

The incredible is just that... incredible. Best phone I've ever owned.

If you want the 720p high def with mini hdmi port... The evo will be the one to get. Personally I don't plan on hooking my phone up to my tv. I have other devices for that. I've seen people mention watching high def on the phone but you can't... the phone is still 800x480 (WVGA) which is far short of the 1280x720 you'd need to watch HD on the phone itself. Resolution is the same between them though the incredible has a 3.7" screen vs the 4.3" screen on the evo. I wouldn't turn down a larger screen, but I don't need it. I do read ebooks on my phone though and another half inch or so would be welcome.

Other than those things, the phones are going to be pretty much identical.

(oh, and I'm paying 65/month I think for my phone; 450min + data + unlimited texting)

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

If it was the Incredible coming to Sprint, I would choose that phone. I have the Palm Pre and the screen size is just too small and I personally need something larger.

Its not good, but it is growing. No question it will take years for it to have coverage anything close to 3G. Fortunately for me, the markets I do business in plus my home are in the 4G coverage area.

Don't let go of that plan. Looks like rate plans have begun to level off now. I was with Verizon and made a switch to Sprint because of the lower rate plans they offered, plus at the time, there was not a good viable smart phone option at Verizon. So, I was the early adopter with the Palm Pre buying it on day 1. I tell you, WebOs actually works very nicely - it is just the hardware that needs to be retooled and rethought out. I am very interested in seeing what HP has in store for Palm and WebOs.

When I bought my Droid... I had a choice between the Palm Pre Plus, the Droid and the Droid Eris. I opted for the Droid and my wife got the Eris. I'm happy with this decision.

    Re: HTC EVO 4G

verizon's gonna have 4g comin up pretty soon...instead of bringing little by little online at a time, they're gonna bring huge chunk online at once.

    http://www.technewsdaily.com/verizon...r-100325-0355/

from my research, spring uses "WiMax" technology for their 4g...it's a shorter wavelength so it doesn't travel as fast, but the bandwidth is a bit higher...

Verizon (and later AT&T) use LTE, which has crazy long range, but slightly lower bandwidth...that's why they're able to cover so much so rapidly.

now, the article I linked is from march, so the date could've been pushed back by Verizon...couldn't find much better data.

Same here. I am happy with my Motorola Droid for now. Android is becoming more and more popular. I expect a new "best phone ever" to come out every few months. Google did a great job with the 2.x series Android OS.

As for the 4G coming to Verizon... I hope it does, even though my current phone probably won't support it. At least Verizon has the infrastructure in place to support a larger 4G network. I think Sprint as a company is only hanging on by a thread at this point. They just don't have a business strategy that allows them to get a competitive advantage.

Watch for price cutting for some of the weaker providers... then they may gain some market share from new customers. Existing Verizon customers will probably stick with Verizon, unless they jump ship because they want the iPhone.

The nook is pretty nice (and runs android in that lower screen). I've eyeballed it since before it was out and I might wind up picking one up some time.
