Error message starting DOD

My girlfriend has a HP G71-329WM laptop and when she tries to start DOD she keeps getting an error message that says steamstartup0 failed. steamstartup(0xf,0x0016E584) failed with error 2. failed to take master pipe connection lock

I tried to help him with this earlier, but no luck.

I googled that error message, with no results.

I also looked in Steam Support...nothing.

The thing that worries me is that it could have something to do with this:

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M

Did you try defragmenting and verifying the game cache files?

My sister actually had problems running CS:S because of the intel thingy... I forget what we did, but it was some funky work around for the intel thingy.

sorry it took so long to reply. she is running windows 7 64 bit and should she have to run fragment her game since she just installed steam and just downloaded DoD? she has never had steam or even got to play anything yet so there shouldn't be anything to defrag right?

also, if you just google "steam failed with error 2. failed to take master pipe connection lock" you will get results. i just haven't found the right one yet lol
