Thread: Stuck in Boot

So my laptop has been finicky lately, and by finicky I mean it won't get windows started. I can start it up, and I see the lights and hear the clickity clickity that means things are happening, but it won't show anything. Sometimes I can get to the boot menu where it tells me that it was improperly shut down, however no matter what I try, after that it may show the windows loading bar but then the screen goes blank. And again, lights, fan, and clickity, but nothing comes up. I've spent up to half an hour waiting for something, anything, but it just whirrs away.

Any suggestions as to what to do?

I think it is F8 Mr. White but yeah see if it will boot into safe mode otherwise I would try a rescue disk.

F8 is safe-mode F5 is Windows boot menu which you can then choose safe-mode, Right? So you're both right, Right?

Well, either way, mashing them doesn't seem to help any. In fact, I haven't been able to get anything but the blank backlit screen to come up, despite the comp whirring and clicking away.

it sounds silly but, I had an asus that you had to ctrl-alt-del to finish booting to windows. I thought the computer froze and hit C-A-D and it booted. Now everytime the computer boots you have to hit C-A-D to get windows to launch.
