Canon Loyalty Program
I thought I'd share this for people that don't know about it. If you have a Canon camera, even if its broken, you can trade it in and get a newer refurbished model at a reduced price. Either a tech at Canon's technical support number can direct you to the Canon Loyalty Program or you can just call the direct number and inquire about your options.
I have a Powershot G7 that just died on me a couple weeks ago. A screw came loose inside and shorted something out. Basically it'd cost $50-70 for me to try to fix it myself, assuming I'm right about which board got shorted out, or $100-120 plus shipping to send it for repair. Not really worth repairing a G7 over getting a new camera. I called the Canon Loyalty Program and here were my options with my G7 trade in:
Powershot SX20 IS, $150
Powershot G11, $250
Rebel XS, $350
I'm saving for a higher end dSLR than the XS so I'm trading in for a refurbed G11. Its a pretty good deal for upgrading to a newer camera since, for example, a new G11 goes for about $500 and a refurb is usually about $400. After picking your trade in the rep on the phone will take your name, contact and mailing information, and the credit card you're going to use, give you a confirmation number and email you a confirmation of your order. The phone number is in the email below.

Yeah, it might definitely be worth calling them to ask. From what I understand of the program they will offer a choice of three cameras, low-mid-high, and your choice may vary depending on what you're trading in. If you do the trade in they will also ask for the serial number on the camera when they take your information.

I've already got a Canon XSi. I just need a pocketable point & shoot that does video. The S2 IS video capability is awesome. You could use the zoom while shooting video. The only bad thing is you're pegged at 2 gigs max for SD card. No SDHC support. I'll give them a holler and see what they say.
