    Need Networking Help

Hey all, I have 2 identical RangeMax netgear routers and I want to bridge from Router A to Router B on the other side of the house to get my PC in my room a hardline w/o running a line the whole way angering and probably entangling my family members.

I'm in the setup/settings and such and can see no bridge option any where. Anyone have these or know a solution?

You have to check for WDS support of your router first. (Wireless Distribution System)
The setting for it is usually in the advanced wireless menu.

Also check out ddwrt.com and see if they have custom firmware support for your model. Beware though this stuff can get hairy.

Without WDS you can still accomplish this...You need to turn them into WAPs or Gateway mode with DHCP enabled

Configure each router with the exact same config the only difference is the IP on the router.. Then set 1 of the routers to channel 1 and the other to channel 6. Of course with WDS you only have to click one button, but its still possible this way too..

I do this here at the house. It's called bridging. One router is setup as a client of the one connected to my cable modem. It connects just like any other wireless client. I'm using DD-WRT, but I"m pretty sure it's supported by most router firmwares out of the box.

Some routers also call it "Wireless repeater mode"... but it does the same thing.

Hmm, that sort of implies both have their own WAN or interconnectivity already. I think he's basically trying to turn his other router into a NIC.

My Linksys I use while at school I've put DD-WRT on. I like it alot more than this bs netgear stuff. I was just looking for the little as possible effort. Tonight I'll try War's suggestion and if that fails I'll look into the WRT option.
