Anandtech: CES 2011: Qualcomm Demos Snapdragon MSM8660

Qualcomm used CES to showcase their new dual-core Snapdragon parts, and they invited a group of bloggers to get their thoughts on the new chips. Qualcomm gave us a demo of the next generation Snapdragon development platform, with a Snapdragon MSM8x60 processor inside. The MSM8x60 has two Scorpion cores clocked at 1.2GHz and the Adreno 220 GPU, is built on the 45 nm process, and is set to show up in smartphones and tablets later this year.

    Read on for more details.

Anandtech: Dell U3011 Review: Dell's New 30-inch Flagship

There's something special about 30" displays. They're the biggest, the baddest, and the spiritual flagship for each respective display maker. It's where manufacturers pull out all the stops on visual quality, inputs, build quality and features. We reviewed HP's updated 30-incher, the ZR30w a few months ago, and now it's Dell's turn to refresh and update their own 30" display - the U3011.

How does it stand up? Read on for the full review.

Anandtech: AMD’s Brazos vs. Atom Thermals, Revisited

Last week we met with AMD at CES to see some of their latest and greatest offerings. We already reported on the meetings in our earlier article, but in the interest of full disclosure AMD wanted us to come back and rerun some tests. We’ve done that and have some updates on the comparison, along with some additional discussion of what Brazos means for the netbook and nettop markets. Now all we need is hardware in our hands so we can get to the full review….

Anandtech: AMD G-Series Brings APUs to the x86 Embedded Market

The embedded market is dominated by SoCs based on RISC processors such as ARM and MIPS. The low power consumption of these SoCs make them attractive. Other than ARM and MIPS, PowerPC and x86 also play a role. Intel, AMD and VIA have been trying their best to enable x86 to gain a strong foothold in the embedded space. Today, AMD is bringing the power of the Brazos platform Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) into the embedded space.

Let us take a look at what the AMD Embedded G-Series brings to the market.

Anandtech: The Battle of the P67 Boards - ASUS vs. Gigabyte at $190

In the world of motherboards and manufacturer competition, the idea is to beat your competitor. To develop the product, with more features, more fancy gadgets, and perform better than your competitor at every price point. Today, we pit arguably the two most popular motherboard vendors at a price point that will see a significant number of sales from consumers and enthusiasts alike – the ASUS P8P67 Pro and the Gigabyte P67A-UD4, which were both released during the Sandy Bridge week for $190. Forget all the marketing fluff; this is a showdown!

Anandtech: AMD Launches The Radeon HD 6950 1GB

    Good morning everyone.

Today AMD is launching the long-awaited 1GB version of the Radeon HD 6950. For reasons we can't really delve in to, the NDA for the 6950 is expiring here at 4am PDT, however we're not ready to talk about the 6950 1GB quite yet. We'll be back in a few hours with a full explaination, but in the mean time we can say that performance is virtually identical to the 2GB card throughout our test suite at 1920x1200 and 1680x1050. It's only at 2560x1600 and under Eyefinity that we see the 2GB card make a name for itself.

We'll have more in a few hours.

Anandtech: NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 560 Ti: Upsetting The $250 Market

Late last year we saw GF110, the first of the revised Fermi family. Utilizing a new low-level transistor design intended to minimize transistor leakage, GF110 brought with it GTX 580 and GTX 570, a pair of powerful if expensive video cards that put NVIDIA back where they traditionally lie on the performance/power curve: very high performance with only moderately high power consumption.

Now with 1 GPU’s revisions under their belts, it’s time for NVIDIA to take to tinkering the next GPU: GF104. Receiving the same transistor reworking as GF100/GF110 in order to allow NVIDIA to enable all of GF104’s functional units, it has become the aptly named GF114. And it is the heart of NVIDIA’s newest video card: the GeForce GTX 560 Ti. Will the GTX 560 Ti follow in the footsteps of its predecessor and shake up the $200 market? Let’s find out.

    Anandtech: AMD’s GTX 560 Ti Counter-Offensive: Radeon HD 6950 1GB & XFX’s Radeon HD 6

Today was originally supposed to be about the newly released GeForce GTX 560 Ti – NVIDIA’s new GF114-based $250 video card. Much as was the case with the launch of AMD’s Radeon HD 6800 series however, AMD is itching to spoil NVIDIA’s launch with their own push. Furthermore they intend to do so on two fronts: directly above the GTX 560 Ti at $259 is the Radeon HD 6950 1GB, and below it one of many factory overclocked Radeon HD 6870 cards.

As a result today we're looking at not only the GTX 560 Ti, but also AMD's counter-offensive. Amidst the backdrop of a product launch brought in by nearly a month, we'll see how AMD's counters stand up to NVIDIA's latest, and why for many situations a 2GB Radeon HD 6950 is no better than a 1GB Radeon HD 6950.
