Anandtech: Sapphire Launches Mining-Focused Radeon RX 570 with 16 GB of GDDR5 Memory

Sapphire has introduced one the industry’s first Radeon RX 570 graphics cards that carry 16 GB of GDDR5 memory onboard. The board is designed primarily for cryptocurrency mining, but it still has a display output and therefore can theoretically be used for other applications too.
Officially, the manufacturer positions its Sapphire RX 570 16GB HDMI Blockchain graphics card for Grin coin mining, as Grin's underlying algorithm benefits from the amount of onboard memory. This gives a 16 GB video card a distinct advantage on Grin. The card consumes 175 W (±10%) of power and has an 8-pin PCIe power connector, which is 25 W higher when compared to “regular” Radeon RX 570 GPUs that are rated for a 150 W TDP. It uses an air cooling system that is comprised of two fans and a large aluminum radiator with heatpipes.
Sapphire plans to sell its RX 570 16GB HDMI Blockchain graphics card directly at https://gpuminer.sapphiretech.com, and it remains to be seen whether the adapter will be sold by third parties. Interestingly, the board vendor has not disclosed pricing for the board, and given the unqiue market for the product I suspect it's going to be based on the quantity of the boards purchased. Though the company does note that the product will cost significantly less than other graphics cards carrying 12 or 16 GB of memory (e.g. Radeon VII, RTX 2080 Ti, and the like), which is logical given the positioning of high-end GPUs for prosumers and professionals.
In addition to graphics cards for miners, Sapphire also sells its INCA and MGI-series systems for cryptocurrency mining.

Anandtech: Colorful Offers GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Without A Cooler

There are two major things that differentiate GPUs within the same family from each other: the PCB design and the cooling system, both of which provide either headroom for overclocking or cool and quiet operation. Hardcore enthusiasts can switch coolers for something custom - Colorful has released a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti video card that comes without any cooling solution, allowing these users some comfort in not killing a GPU when removing the cooler.

Anandtech: BIOSTAR Goes Carrizo: A10N-8800E Mini-ITX Motherboard with Integrated FX-8

BIOSTAR has just introduced a mini-ITX motherboard with a built-in mobile processor, called the A10N-8800E. This Carrizo chipset based model uses an AMD FX-8800P quad-core processor, integrated Radeon R7 graphics and two memory slots capable of supporting 32 GB of DDR4-2133 memory.
The BIOSTAR A10N-8800E boasts an AMD FX-8800P quad-core processor with a boost core clock of up to 3.4 GHz from a base frequency of 2.1 GHz. The FX-8800P is more commonly found in AMD notebooks and has a TDP of just 15 W making it suitable for a low powered SoC system. Some of the main features of the A10N-8800E include a single full-length PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, a Realtek ALC887 HD audio codec and a Realtek RTL8111H 1G NIC. Due to the mobile processor, the BIOSTAR A10N-8800E has a small CPU cooler included. Storage options are limited to just two SATA ports and a single M.2 slot with support for both PCIe and SATA SSDs.
Focused on edge computing, the BIOSTAR A10N-8800E offers users two USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, separate PS/2 ports for a keyboard and mouse and two video outputs consisting of a VGA and HDMI 1.4. Users can expand on the basic amount of rear panel USB connectivity by a further two USB 3.1 Gen1 and two USB 2.0 ports through internal headers. The board also has a basic looking power delivery with CPU power coming from a single 4-pin ATX 12 V input and the rest of the motherboard getting its power from a 24-pin ATX 12 V input.
The BIOSTAR A10N-8800E is suitable for small footprint systems due to the mini-ITX form factor. The condensed sizing and power efficient nature of the mobile AMD FX-8800P processor with Radeon R7 integrated graphics makes it an ideal candidate for users looking for a low powered and compact home or office based system.
At present, there is no information on the availability of the BIOSTAR A10N-8800E mini-ITX motherboard, with no details on the boards pricing either.

Anandtech: AMD Pushing the AMD+AMD Strategy with Executive Promotions

Today AMD is announcing some realignment of its executive team along with some promotions. The idea behind the changes boils down to AMD wanting to focus its efforts on bringing the CPU and GPU strategy together, for future AMD+AMD combinations. The goal is that users should want to pair Ryzen with Radeon, or EPYC with Instinct, and by aligning the hierarchy behind that goal, it should be easier to manage and achieve.

Anandtech: Intel's 10nm Cannon Lake and Core i3-8121U Deep Dive Review

Anyone interested in leading edge semiconductors knows that Intel is late with its newest manufacturing process. The '10nm' node was first announced in 2014, to be released in 2016. While officially 'shipping for revenue' by 31 December 2017, the only way we knew to get hold of an Intel 10nm x86 CPU was if you happened to be a Chinese school and work with a specific distributor to buy a specific laptop. We pulled in a few favors from within the industry and managed to source the laptop for review.
