Re: New Phone to buy... no flame wars, but honest opinions
Bunni.... are you talking about the KIN? I haven't heard about any Win Mo 7 phone releases yet =/
The Windows Mobile Treo or Palm OS Treo?
WebOS looks like it's a different animal.
The iPhone4 is the first iPhone that I have taken seriously. It looks like it means business, not some soft curved item to appeal to the masses. Covering it up would do it injustice =P
Edit: Incidentally, the iPhone4 is on pre-order. The Samsung Captivate is slated to be released on the 18th (Although with ATT release dates, who can tell?) Anyone know how long the pre-order will take?
Anyone use both android and iOS4 yet?Last edited by Bane; 07-12-10 at 11:34 PM.

That's the old Win mobile.
Win7 is a completely different type of OS than any other winOs on a moblie device. In all honesty its shaping up to be the next big thing in mobile devices next to Iphones and droids. It's completely new and strays far from the path of old Winos'. I would highly recommend looking into one.

I have used the iOS4 on my friends phone (i own a droid) The iOS4 is great, and has great things in its own right. Being able to sync up to other apple products (itunes etc) gives it an advantage. It is smooth...
The droid 2.1 is ever expanding. Its like comparing Apple to Microsoft. Certain things only work on an apple, Most EVERYTHING is universal with a PC. Droid is a free market filled with people who LOVE to make apps

This video is awesome and I think it sums up the problems with the iphone4 and also Consumer reports no longer recommends the iphone, since it will drop calls if you do not hold it right.

Not with the current version, but Windows Phone 7 series looks promising. It is getting some great "previews", but I would like to see it in person first. If you are stuck on AT&T, I would recommend the Nexus One, or (I hate to say it) the iPhone. You can't beat the simplicity of the iPhone, but if you like the freedom of Android, get the Nexus One.
Or... wait a few months to see what new Android hand sets are coming out for AT&T. I read somewhere that Samsung has a few on the way that are just great! They might already be out...

Windows 7 OS looks slick but they are locking it down so tight that it's no better than the iphone in that regard. I will concur though that the 6.5 windows mobile phones are HORRIBLE. I too had the same issues with the alarm clock not going off, blue screens, freezing, slow response, etc. If that doesn't matter to you... get the iphone. It's got tons of free apps... great paid ones... a case will overcome the crap antenna issue (NOT a software glitch). If you want a more open platform... by all means hold out for the captivate because android is the shit.

Re: New Phone to buy... no flame wars, but honest opinions
Captivate being released this Sunday July 18th. Store opens at 11am, and guess who will be there ready to buy one
I would get the iPhone if it wasn't so buggy.
I just wish ATT would allow installation of non-signed apps and had a flash on the phone.... -.-
I personally like hardware keyboards, so not having one on the phone will be a big difference. Why does Sprint get every good phone being released?
But.... thank you XDA for already starting to root the device The other problem is finding a special case for the phone since it has a different overall shape than the rest of the Galaxy S phones. I guess a screen protector and rubber case.... or if ZAGG will release an invisiShield in the near future for the Captivate specifically.
From what i've read, no multitasking on Win Mo 7 phones, but M$ is inventing new ways to create a "multitasking" experience on the phone.Last edited by Bane; 07-15-10 at 05:11 PM.
