I have AVG and Avast on my computer. AVG is easier, but the false positives are a problem at times. Other than that, AVG is the way to go.

    Re: AVG detects a virus

I feel like I need to share this story. So I have been using AVG free for several years now based on recommendation from others. LOVED it. Never had an issue. When I just started at my job, they had me down load and install the Enterprise level anti-virus they just recently bought keys for. So Im like, cool, Enterprise level security! I install and see if it picks up anything. Nothing. I install a program that I know has a trojan on it, and still....nothing. At this point Im like, what the fuck?!?! I uninstall the Enterprise level security, and reinstall AVG free. 'Lo and behold guess when AVG free nabbed in the first 5 minutes of the scan? Thats right, the trojan in question. So therefor, I am left with the realization that AVG free, is better than a professional, enterprise grade anti-virus package. WOW. Who would have thought?

I would think that it would use the same engine and definition files. Maybe your enterprise level stuff hadn't been updated yet.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

best bet though would be to send that file to avg with the same story you just told us and have them take a look at it.

Everyone should also download Microsoft Security Essentials. I have had great luck with this, and it is also free. I have MSE, AVG, and Avast hit my Media PC once/week on different days. Some find things that others do not.

But I also like someone from AVG stopping by our forums... kinda nice.

HeavyG, I'm interested to hear about this, as I know of a couple of users who have had issues concerning the combination of MSE and AVG. So far, for you, it hasn't been a problem?

Potemkine: I'd be glad to look into this for you, if it's still a problem. It's curious!

I, too, would go with this as a very plausible reason Pote
