0x8889000a: AUDCLNT_E_DEVICE_IN_USE
Hmm, any help will be appreciated...
So with my recent upgrade of my video cards, i had to re-organize the order of the cards in my pci slots (previous cards only took 1 slot, the 9800's take two slots). I ended up having to move my sound card.
So i boot into my os's, had to reinstall my soundcards drivers but my on board sound (which i use for listining to music which is outed to actual speakers, my soundcard outputs to my headset). Now when ever i try to out to my ONBOARD sound after this GPU update and resorting my pci slots. i get a: "0x8889000a: AUDCLNT_E_DEVICE_IN_USE"
........
From everything, foobar, vlc, windows control panel (just says failed to play test sound). Reinstalling drivers, did nothing. Event logs show nothing... I am at a loss....

Another question... what kind of video card is it? And does it have HDMI? You might want to disable the HDMI audio on your VIDEO card. Some cards also allow audio from the DVI port. My ATI HD2900XT had this, and I installed the full driver package, including the sound drivers. My Creative X-Fi card would not work until I disabled the ATI card as an audio device.
Might not help you, but it was worth mentioning.
