Is there anyway to turn on the HTPC using a remote control?

the i5 chip has on board HD video and is used in many pre-made HTPC systems (yes the MB has HDMI out). This means you don't need a dedicated video card and therefor a smaller power supply = quieter system. You would need a card to handle the analog receiver however.

I used my old gaming rig and bought a $50 hdmi out video card into it and use it as my HTPC but I don't leave it on all the time. I have a home server for storing my video and audio connects and it streams to several of my devices in the living room.

I use the logitech dinovo mini as a "remote"

They do have sound, but if I remember correctly, you still need to connect them to the sound card. I know my GTX260 has an audio in (Optical I believe) on it.
