chrome.exe - Corrupt File

I just got home from a night in Minnesota, come home, boot up the PC, open up Google Chrome. It opens up, but doesn't load anything. I get this message:

The file or directory C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Local State is corrupt and unreadable. Please run Chkdsk utility.

I think, "Shit. Got a virus." Open up IE to make sure, and IE opens up fine, along with Steam and iTunes. So, I reinstall Chrome. Same message, but Chrome now loads fine. I want to get rid of the message though.

I have done this so far:
- Reinstall Google Chrome
- Run "Chkdsk" and didn't work.
- Scanned the file with multiple programs. Nothing.
- Tried deleting the file. Nothing.

This is the first problem I have had with Chrome. Any help guys?

Try running this under a different windows profile see if the error re-occurs.. Sounds like some type of session data got corrupted and just needs to be removed.
(could clear out all the contents of Google\Chrome folder under the application data if issue goes away under another profile)

Also what happens when you go to a secure site? (like https:\\mail.google.com\ )

Now everything in that folder is corrupted. >.<

I went to a secure website and it does the same thing.

On this computer, I do not have another profile. I will create one and get back to you. Thanks for the help.

Then delete the Google folder.

After you do that, I'd recommend running something like CCleaner to clean up your HD and registry. Once that runs clean, then reinstall Chrome.

I went to delete the Google folder, and I get this message:

Cannot delete History Index 2010-06-journal: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

I am using IE to post this. >.< Nasty!

Have you attempted to run a chkdsk yet on your drive?

Open up a cmd window and run" chkdsk c: /f /r

It'll tell you it is scheduled for next reboot. Reboot your PC.
