08-21-10, 02:36 AM #1Android Application
Hey all didn't know if another tech savy TPG member has already found this and or is willing to write this.
I am looking for an application that allows me to load a .gpx file onto either the google maps or onto its own maps. What a .gpx file is is coordinates for your GPS routing system. I am interested in this function because I go hiking and well if I can get the coordinates of the trails I can track my speed on accent and decent and also know my elevation roughly as I go. At this time the GPS on my phone works and to an extent I know where I am on the trail and can estimate my distance remaining and so forth but nothing hard on because it is just me eyeballin it on the google maps topo map setting.
Any ideas or anything would be great!

Re: Android Application
Use http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/ to convert the gpx to a kml and then import it into google maps.

Re: Android Application
You have to create a new map on your computer. When you do that there will be an import option.
On your phone go to google maps and select layers. You might have to click more layers and you will see 'my maps'. Select it and it will load the route you imported on the computer.
All this is on my mytouch with Android 1.6.
