Nice articles. These basically state exactly what I was saying. Digital data is... DIGITAL! It isn't electronic pulses that can degrade over long distance and pickup interference... Don't waste your money on expensive digital cables... they are all the same.
Outdoor use might be different... you might want a cable with gold connectors. I have seen how crusty those cables can get after being outdoors for a year. The TV didn't last so well either, even though it was covered when not in use.

Re: DVI to HDMI
I read lots of articles when I bought my HDTV. I couldnt see spending $100 on a cable, I had friends that did and have given them monoprice cables. Their jaws drop when they tell me the cable worked great and I tell them what I payed. There are some cheap cables that have cheap connectors and depending on how often you plug and unplug you might want to make sure you have good ends.
I had interference on my sub cable and got a better one to get rid of the interference, but thats an analog signal.

Re: DVI to HDMI
lol
I picked up a 15 dollar HDMI --> DVI cable for my PS3 and monitor and it works perfectly fine.
Like everyone else said, don't buy the hype about Superior HDMI cables, it just sends 1's and 0's.
Now when it comes to 3DTV they say that high speed HDMI is necessary... i'm not sure, but i'm tending to think that the 1's and 0's still apply.
