    Close the bottleneck

Ok. So I have a self built AMD system that I never bought a GPU for because I got a decent on-board GPU that fulfilled my needs. Now I want to do something to even out my performance and eliminate my GPU bottleneck. The System is a Athlon II X3 that I unlocked and made into what is a Phenom II X4 with a faulty L3 cache. It performs magnificently but it's easily more powerful than my 4200 with some side-port memory.

    Specs: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1176729
CPU: Phenom II X4 (unlocked Athlon II X3- my doing)'
    GPU: 4200 -some memory onboard
    HD: 500Gigs 7200RPM.
    RAM: 4Gigs 1600MHz Dual channel

It's not a whole lot but I need to know if I need to buy something that's $50/$70/$100 American. I don't want to go Nvidia simply because I want to use fusion to have my 4200 help my other card out.

    TLDR specs needed:
    -Needs to be ATI
-Hybrid Performance compatible with Radeon 4200
    -no extra connectors
    -close the bottleneck

So. I only have 1 six pin connector and it goes to the On board. Instead of disconnecting it and not using it would buying a splitter like this one do the trick?

what does the 6 pin go to? cause u shouldnt have to power onboard video!! thats done through the 24 pin mobo cable

and how big is ur power supply, to use that splitter ur gonna need two extra molex connectors, perferably on their own rail..

I wouldn't split it.... If you don't have at least a 450+W PSU I wouldn't run a high end card...

You might need to wait until you can upgrade the PSU and GPU...

    "Dual PCI-E Connectors
With a 6-pin and a 6+2 pin PCI-E connectors, the Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 is ideal for building an SLI or CrossFire gaming system."

It should work... Maybe you just overlooked the second 6+2 pin.

If you have a 6 pin going to the MOBO you can always just unplug it and route it into the GPU directly. You shouldn't need the extra 6 pin going into the MOBO. Your 20+4 connector should power everything fine.

They also make adapters that take 2 of the 4-pin molex connectors (like go into hard drives) into a single 6-pin PCI-E connector. In fact, my 5870 came with 2 of them.

I may have overlooked them. I didn't use many of the wires when I first installed it and it's all bundled up in a corner out of the way. It's entirely likely that I missed it.
