Sound Card...
So I am looking to purchase a new sound card. I currently (sorta, I'll explain) have a Creatiev SB Xtreme Gamer card that is fine until I plug in my headset into the front panel ports. The buzzing noise is horrible and when using VoIP, people can head a clicking noise. So I recently purchased a Creative SB Fatal1ty Pro PCI-e X1 card. The buzzing wasn't near as bad and people said they heard a very quiet clicking when I key up. Better, but hell for $130 (@Fry's locally), I want it to be perfect. So I'm looking into the Xonar cards but the reviews I read on NewEgg aren't much more promising.
Any suggestions?

Re: Sound Card...
I have a 7.1 zonar card and have had no issues that I can remember. And to be completely honest, the music on my computer sounds better than my home stereo. I have Logitech 5.1 speakers hooked up and the quality is great. If I want to listen to music I turn on my computer and play it. If your just going to use headphones, probaly would suggest spending the money on a good usb set of headphones instead of a sound card.

Re: Sound Card...
I did some research. Apparently it's an issue with the front panel cable not being shielded and some grounding issues. To check, I moved the cable around in the case while it was turned on and sure enough, the noise got worse as I brought it close to my video card. The farther I moved the cable, the better it got. So now... I'll be buillding up a new cable for it.

You need to return that card to Fry's. You probably won't get a better gaming experience with the new one. But whatever makes you happy...

You are in luck. I have the opposite problem. I have issues with my motherboard and a xonar d2x card so I switched to a fatality titanium.
As such I have a complete (with box, cables, manuals, discs) Xonar d2x I would give you for half of neweggs list price. I paid more than current list but it's just sitting on a shelf now.
I'd be happy to send it to you if you want it. Let me know.
Current list is 180 so 90 and it's yours. If you can still return the creative card you'd save some money.Rumble
