There should be a way to change those configs in the bios. One of the main reasons for having 2 processors is redundancy. 1 dies the other one lives and does the job until you get a replacement. I would look around and see if you can find a Open manage cd somewhere. ( I think dell uses open management, HP uses Smart Start), but anyway, try to install the os using the open management cd and see if any of the raid drivers/mobo drivers get pushed through that instead of the xp cd.

Ok just to throw this out there, would flashing the bios work at all? Assuming that I would use the most updated version.

does it have a separate VRM? if so, perhaps you need to reseat it. I used to see that often on older servers.

Re: Server help: No dual core

A lot of the older dual/quad cpu servers also had a dummy cpu that had to go in the socket if you wanted to only use one. That's probably why you can't just remove one without it throwing errors.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

I feel like this thread is going nowhere. Have you tried reinstalling your OS and getting ALL of the latest driver for your hardware?

It just seems like you are looking for some light bulb to illuminate and fix your problem, but I don't have confidence that you have done your part. Just my opinion, of course. Have you flashed the BIOS? Have you re-seated your CPUs? Have you done a full reinstall? Killing me, Smalls.
