Oh, if you CrossfireX them, your higher clocked card will be dumbed down, for sure, but the benefits of running the dual GPU in CrossfireX will outweigh any losses in clock speed. Hell, my dual 4850s out performed a single 4890. I am not saying you shouldn't buy this card, but if you are concerned with the clock speed, you could always search for an identical card on Ebay or Amazon, or just overclock the slower card to match your OC edition. The difference in performance would likely be minimal as the real gain would be from CrossfireX.

I have said this somewhere on this forum before... when it comes to CrossfireX, the carriage can only go as fast as the slowest horse. Just make sure you have a PSU that can handle dual 4890s. Either way, that extra $100 should get you through the next year with any new releases. The only drawback is that the 4000 series does not have DX11. Not a deal breaker, by any means, but you won't be getting the "best" graphics out there.

See and that is why I was gonna wait til next year and just buy a new card and be set for the next few more years. Why spend 100 now and only be good for another year or so, or I could just buy a new card next year and be set for the next 3 or so.

Just trying to weigh the pro's and con's.

Up to you. I will say that this 4890 will OC quite highly as I did some testing after the 4850x2 died.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.
