    Fan help

I have a Thermaltake Xaser V case, and it has external fan controls/monitors on the front. It is supposed to alert me when a fan is un/under-performing. However, it is beeping, and driving me mad, but all of my fans are running fine. I have Googled how to make it shut the hell up, but I guess Google didn't like that phrase. Any help, PLEASE?

    Re: Fan help

Do you now which fan is making the noise? Also, are they 12v fans (they probably are)? It may be a bad sensor in the fan. Try troubleshooting each fan to find out which one is failing.

The sensor in the fan that provides the RPM/Temps may be failing. On most 12v fans, you should have 3 wires, red-which is your 12v lead, black-which is ground, and yellow-which should be the wire that sends the sensor info to your motherboard or whatever fan controller you are using. If you identify the fan, you have a couple options. You can cut the yellow wire and just leave the power and ground, or you can replace the fan.

If you are interested in some high flow 120mm fans (120x38mm), I have some available that I could sell you for $10 each. They are power/ground only, so they won't provide any stats, but I have them hooked up to some manual fan controllers, mainly to reduce the noise as they run pretty loud at max. These are not el-cheapo fans... they push a shit ton of air. I purchased them in bulk (10 of them) on eBay, but I am only using 4 of them in my PC.

I traced the wire to the controller on the front of the case, and disconnected it. I still have power to the fan, and it is spinning away, but no more monitoring, and thus no more beeping.

Probably a bad sensor somewhere... glad you were able to shut it off. Those things are so annoying.
