    Hotmail E-mail hacking

I got up this morning to find that my hotmail e-mail sent a bunch of e-mails to people yesterday with links provided in the e-mails.

    How do I stop it?
How do I prevent it in the future?, no clue how that scam works....
    Any other tips?

    Re: Hotmail E-mail hacking

Same thing happened to me... I so seldom use my Hotmail account anymore, but got an e-mail from a concerned relative who got a weird e-mail from my account. I just changed my password to something secure (since I don't use it hardly ever) and stored the PW in my password safe. Make sure you have all your password recovery information set (alternate e-mail address, security questions, etc).

    Hotmail still exist?

Its been all about the google since 2005 for me.

Earlier this year someone hacked my google account. Google caught it and notify me. Some prick in Spain @ 5am CST on a Sunday from his cell phone decided to try to use my email to spam people.

I freaked out pretty badly because I use this hotmail account for job searching, and it sent e-mails out to all my contacts....... embarrassing....

Brute force hacking, malware, sniffing passwords, etc... All the ways passwords are typically harvested. They don't change your password because then you find out... and can take action to disable or reset the account. They wait and then use them for spam/malware attacks and then toss them. It's the same thing that's happening with iTunes.
