12-10-10, 08:08 PM #1New GTX 570 in SLI!
So if you recall from this thread, I was quite upset at EVGA for limiting their step-up options.

Well within a few days left of my 90 day step up period, they released the GTX 570, which is getting great reviews. This card performs 15% less than the GTX 580, but costs 50% less. It is a no brainer if you ask me. I submitted my cards for step-up yesterday and I am currently #168 on the wait list. I will be paying $135 out of pocket for each card, plus the cost of shipping back my GTX 460 SC cards.
The whole process is a bit frustrating, and I lucked out that a decent card came out during my step-up period as I was not looking forward to upgrading to the GTX 580s and paying an extra $600 out of pocket. I think the 570s will make me happy.

I am just future-proofing. After doing some research, there isn't much more to expect from NVidia and AMD in regards to graphics technology until the Q4 2011. This should keep me close to top of the line as next year's games come out. I went with the $200 Core-i5 CPU instead of the more expensive Core-i7s out there and decided to dump my money into the GPUs, which is where you see more of a benefit with gaming.
Once everything is all said and done, I will give a final overview of my system that I have been building since August. I am upwards of $1500 so far. This is the most I have ever spent on a system.

Okay, so I am #53 and #54 on the wait list. Looks like they are finally starting to ship a large amount of cards as I was #115 as of Friday. Hopefully I will have my RMAs ready for processing and will have my dual GTX 570s in within a couple weeks!
This has been a long drawn out process, but it will be worth it in the long run.

I sent in my cards for step-up last Friday... they are still in transit. This really sucks! I probably won't get my new cards until NEXT Friday. I am so anxious. I bought a 1000w Cooler Master Silent prom and re-ran all of my cables since my box is torn apart.
Very soon will I be stretching my e-peen!
