Firefox memory usage?

I was just cruising TPG while pandora was playing on a different tab and my browser just started acting all slow, so I went to the task mgr and WOW! 500MB of ram in use by the firefox.exe process. WTF?

I just installed Chrome again and have the same tabs open, 80MB.

Anybody else experience this with Firefox?

I'm getting major random spikes, but typically with grooveshark

That's around what mine runs at sometimes a bit higher maybe depends on what you're doing.

Depending on what Pandora uses (flash or java), I would advise reinstalling that. Actually, might as well reinstall both and check any add-ons you have running (adblock, fasterfox, etc...).

Depending on what you're doing, or what add-ons you have, ANY browser can hog a lot of memory. Right now, I have 2 tabs open with a couple of add-ons and the sum total for Chrome is close to 500 megs.
