Need help with downloaded file corruption issue
So I am at my family's house and I try to download Si Sandra to burn in a new computer we put together. When the download finished it shows an unknown publisher when I tried to run it. I accepted anyway and got a corrupt file error. Thought it could be the wireless so I hooked up through cat5, cleared the cache, tried again. No luck. I was using internet exploder so I tried to download firefox. Got the same thing with the firefox executable. Unknown publisher and corrupt file. Tried different computer...same thing....tried 3rd and 4 computer...same thing. Eliminated the router by hooking the separate computers directly into the modem. Same thing. I tried several different web pages and programs to no avail. Download.com, Steam, Avast, Mozilla, none of these will download uncorrupted.
At this point I am at a loss. I am no newbie at troubleshooting connection issues as I do it for a job. The only think I can think of is it is either the modem or Comcast, but that makes no since. TCP/IP transfers cannot be corrupted. If the receiving computer gets a bad packet it just asks for the same packet again. So something has to be corrupting the files during transfer and for what ever reason the receiving computer accepts the packet.
What could be causing this and how to I figure out what it is so I can fix it? It makes no since at all.Last edited by Agamemnon; 12-25-10 at 10:59 PM.

Corrupted. I am telling you it is everything. I just now tried a youtube video and 2 min into the video the image got color skewed then stopped. I assume due to data corruption. Tried several videos and all of them did the same thing. 2 min..stopped.
Most bizarre issue I have ever faced and Google is no help(which is odd, Google has not failed me that I can think of). All I get are people telling other people it is there computer. That does not help me as I know it is not computer related.

Re: Need help with downloaded file corruption issue
Oh I appreciate the help.
I did do a lengthy packet loss test to mozilla.org and CNET. Both were within normal ranges.
I just don't get it. I have a Comcast tech coming out to replace the modem and test the line. I don't expect much, but I am out of ideas.
