You don't need a GTX 580 for DX11... Your best bet for a graphics card is the GeForce GTX 560ti or the AMD 6950 1GB version. Both of these cards are in the $250 range and will support DX11 at playable frame rates for most mainstream games.

Also on the intel platform, no matter what you choose, you can always add one more with either card and the right motherboard.

Hi. Just upgrade the video card to a EVGA nvidia 580gtx thus render & barely playable DirectX 11 main feature called "Tessellation" that is bringing all video cards to its knees. Nvidia has the performance crown for Tessellation thus your gona need two 580gtx for this purpose ("Elder Scrolls : Skyrim" upon release will crush all video cards in SLi due to its awesome Tessellation content. Also Windows 7 is required for DirectX 11). Two nvidia 680gtx/Kepler chip upon release will rectify this performance issue.
Wait for the intel X78 chipset mobo's to upgrade the rest (leaked info says X78 chipset will be quad channel memory).
Really need more info on what games you want to play ? To see if you need a more powerful cpu or can wait until the X78 ? You could overclock that Q6600 if needed to get you by until X78.

I'm not a fan of waiting for the next piece of tech unless its game changing, so why should I wait for the x78 chip set. Play bc2 css will play skyrim and crysis 2, tend to play the good strategy games as well.

The problem is, that if you really want to upgrade now, then you should probably wait for the re release of the sandy bridge platform, even if you do not want to wait for X78, P67>X58.

Corsair XMS3 6GB 9-9-9-24 @ 2000mhz. [CMX6GX3M3A2000C9] (X58 chipset is optimized for more performance populating 'ONLY' 3 slots).
Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz
Evga nvidia 580GTX (fit a second gfx card when funds become available)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
