Video card issues pt.2
I bought a card from best buy xfx radeon 4650 to play bc2, it isn't great but it played, then my girlfriend bought an expansion pack for the sims 3, it wouldn't play it would ctd every time. After talking to ea support for three days they find out its the new video card. So I need to get another video card... sigh. I don't want to make the same mistake. I need to know which video card you would recommend for my xp, I want to play bc2 and bf3 with no problems. I would like to stay around 100$. Thank you

1. you can't play bf3 on xp
2. even if you could, there probably wouldn't be a $100 card currently that could "play it with no problems"
For BC2, an Nvidia 250 GTS will play BC2 fine, and my MSI 250 GTS plays BC2 better than the XFX HD 5750 I had in there for testing.

Tell us about the rest of your system, Demon. For $100, you selections for running most newer games with "no problems" will be limited. You will likely need to have lower detail settings and a lower resolution screen for the best frame rates.
The AMD (ATI) 5770 has a couple of cards in the $100 price range you could consider:
Newegg.com - XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Only 109.99 after rebate. I have a friend running BC2 with one of these cards and it runs fine. He is also using an aging Intel E6850 CPU at stock clock speeds.
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GV-R577SO-1GD Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - $119.99 after rebate. This one has a slightly higher clock and a better GPU cooler.
The other card in that price range that I recommend is the GeForce GTS 450:
Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1450-TR GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - $104.99 after mail in rebate.
Newegg.com - 50SGH8HX3OMJ GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) SuperOC 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - $94.99 after mail in rebate.
These are both budget gaming cards at the moment. From a benchmarking perspective, the 5770 outperforms the GTS 450 in almost everything, but very slightly. The GTS 450 cards I posted come slightly overclocked, so there may be a bit of a boost in performance. I think the Galaxy GTS 450 card would be the best deal at $94.99, but you would likely see some better performance out of the Gigabyte 5770 card.

Also, Battlefield 3 won't be out for a while. In the mean time, you can run BC2 on Windows XP!
