Thread: Pogoplug

Anybody else using one of these? I just picked one up at BestBuy since they are half price right now ($50 instead of $100).



Having fun with this thing, have 3 hard drives plugged into it right now totaling 1 terabyte of data. Will probably go find all my others and plug them in since the thing supports using USB hubs (use as many as you want apparently, which is cool).

Mines one of the pro ones that has wireless and is black instead of the basic pink one.

The Android app is good at streaming music right now, but apparently the latest iteration of the App is broken and I can't get my videos to stream (most of my music folders I can't access either). It's like I just gave my phone a 1 TB HD

I guess whatever the hell I want with it. Technically it is a small linux computer.

I do see your point though....I wonder where there profit margin is other than the purchase of the actual device itself.

Funny thing is, through a special promotion through work, I am going to get another one for free. Problem is, the waiting list is a bumfuck long time, people have been waiting since I think October to receive it (and still don't have one).

but... you can do that with your regular computer with net share and dyndns......... for free!

I think it is a cool concept... I just don't know what I would really use it for. I already have a cloud backup just in case my house burns down. The only thing I could really think about using to stream would be music so I could get more songs on my phone when I am traveling.

I'm having fun with it, streaming my music collection to my phone, which is attached to my car stereo right now over my 3g connection, and the quality is great.
