If it ain't broke... Microsoft will break it and drop support for the version that DOES work. I had seriously toyed with building a WHS server, but I'm not spending money on an OS that Microsoft is likely to mothball. I back all my stuff up multiple ways (Windows Backup to separate drive, drive is cloned weekly and also backed up to an online backup service) so the only appealing feature is Drive Extender. I've got a Linux-based file server that I store all my media and data on, so I've got that covered.

I don't need ms to support it anymore. I haven't touched my system in two years and it's worked flawlessly. But I surely don't do a lot of things WHS can do.
