RAM is different from storage size. There is no RAM kits that are +24gb, let alone a motherboard to handle that much memory (especially on a laptop). I think AMD would be good enough for your needs Civil, but an Intel i3/i5 should be good enough to fulfill your needs. Make sure it is the newer generation though of Sandy Bridge chips. They should be indicated with a 2. So for instance i3 2100, the 2 signifies 2nd gen, 100 being the name of the chip, and the i3 being the category.

I'm more of a desktop kind of guy. But if the 2310M is anything like its desktop counterpart (i3 2100) it should be a solid chip and solid laptop. Intel 3000 HD certainly isn't the best graphical chip/APU out their but it'll be fine for your needs.
If you can wait, you may even want to wait for Llano. But that'd be if you plan to use this for a bit of mobile gaming.
