I need a new laptop for work, but know nothing about processors and such. Should I go AMD or Intel? Then which version, i3, i5, etc. I will use it for Office programs, email, web, and a couple of other programs that I use for my line of work that are not resource or graphics intensive. No gaming will be necessary. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Re: Laptop advice
If all you are using it is for office stuff I really don't think that it would matter too much anyways.
Take a look at this - Cheap Laptops, Laptop Sales 2011, Laptop Deals on Core i3, i5, i7
They usually have great deals and maybe once someone has a better suggestion on what to buy you can find what you need super cheap =p

For a work laptop, I highly recommend going with an i3 for battery life purposes. If you want something with a little more power, go with the i5. Hell, for work, I am still running a Core 2 Duo 3 year old notebook and I run a crapload of applications all at once... just has shitty battery lifer. Most of the i3s will blow it away from a performance standpoint and get 2-3 times the battery life.

I think I am liking the ASUS. They all have crappy Intel graphics, but I guess that isn't what is important for a work lappy. You should get good battery life out of the Core i3... everything else looks good for a work PC. The systems are quite comparable all around, but I think I like the build/styling of the ASUS the best.

+1, intel runs cool and is much easier on battery life too. You'll usually notice intel laptops with either intels poopy intel graphic ... thing, or nvidia (as any amd laptops will of course have amd radeon cards).
no wait a minute... is that asus laptop 32 bit?
As for asus love em, dunno if you guys recall my laptop thread a while back, had my graphics card die and was years and years out of warrenty. Asus fixed it only at cost of shipping (which was a LOT cheaper than replacing the laptop of course).
