    Phone Upgrade

Well, its that time, time to upgrade. I am on AT&T, with no option of switching, and there is no way in hell I'm getting an iPhone. Looking at an Android smartphone to upgrade to. Anyone got suggestions/reviews/experience with a phone?

Will you root it Ab1tar? If not, the Atrix 4G is a solid phone. I personally hate Motorola so that's just my $0.02.

If you do plan to root it, HTC phones are typically the phones with the largest support network. You can try and find an unlocked G2X which would be a good option if you had a large sum of money. The Inspire 4G is also pretty sweet, defiantly not as fast as the Atrix 4G though. Honestly, I suggest waiting till HTC releases more dual-core phones. But that's just me.

Traditionally, HTC have been very root friendly, however, that seems to be changing with their new phones. Its possible to root them, but its just REALLY difficult. I haven't really used Motorolla that much, but from some news stories I have read here or there, they are going to be making a conscious effort to make their new phones MORE rooter friendly. So thats something to keep in mind.

ab1tr, I would see if AT&T is going to have the Samsung GalaxyS II. That thing looks like a BEAST: Samsung Galaxy S II review -- Engadget

I wouldn't bother waiting. Battery life absolutely sucks. It won't be until next year that LTE is truly viable when Qualcomm releases their next gen LTE chipset. You can say what you want about Apple and the iPhone, but there's damn good reasons why Apple's delayed a 4G iPhone and battery life is the key. Personally, I'll probably go with a 3G phone this go around (September when my contract is up) rather than a 4G/LTE phone. For me personally, I'm not a heavy data user and 3G has been more than adequate for me. With Verizon (and others) cracking down on users who tether without paying the monthly surcharge, there's no real perk to 4G access for me, as that's where 4G would be of most benefit to me.

I have the HTC surround WIn7 phone. Its good but the battery is horrible compared to the iphone4.

If you go with HTC get a aftermarket battery.

Yeah I saw that - and watched a hands on review that Engadget did on it.....not sure I'm as impressed by it. Seriously - I don't like changing phones. So when I get one I like to know that I am going to be satisfied with it for at least two years. The one I have now....had it 2.5 years. Not satisfied at all with it as I didn't "wait/research" long enough. Stuck with it though. Trying not to go through that again if I can help it.
