Go to the speaker in the bottom right of your taskbar... click on "Playback Devices". Make sure your sound card is selected as the default device.
For whatever reason, I had an issue when I reinstalled my graphics card drivers that the HDMI audio for one of my cards was set as default. I ended up just disabling all of the digital audio outs from my graphics cards as I never use them.

This will be helpful..... for windows 7 most features were removed from creative sound sound cards. This guy edits the drivers and software to re-enable the features.....
That and his drivers work tons better then the crappy drivers creative makes for windows vista and 7.
