ASUS BIOS Stuff? Whenever you say BIOS its all going to be stored on the motherboard. If you had a program that downloaded updates and whatnot, you should get one from the vendor you bought your new MOBO from.

What HP program are you talking about?

If you are expecting to plug up your HDD and it just work in your new system thats a bad idea. Even if it did work, its a ticking time bomb of problems. I would suggest backing up whatever you need and do a format and clean install.

This. You can certainly reuse the HD, but you will need to install a new operating system on it for use with the new PC. The license you have been running Windows under will not apply to a new build.

If you have a retail version of Windows, you should be able to "transfer" the license over to the new build. It may require a call to Microsoft for activation on the new PC.

OEM versions of Windows are apparently tied to the specific hardware and cannot be transferred.

Nah... you can re-activate them by calling M$. I just tell them the motherboard in my machine failed and had to be replaced. Usually works.

It does but they will sometimes ask for your product key.
