    Re: Optical question

I love the natural feel of the Deathadder in my hands. My old Logitec G5 held nicely as well but I never liked it's actual performance. Comfort should be the biggest thing with a mouse as, in this laser mouse world, decent performance is easy to come by.
    Speed. I am speed.

Just bought a Logitech G500 to replace my G5. Love it. Rocketfish mouse pad from Best Buy is a good deal as well.

    SteelSeries for mouse pads.

    SteelSeries – Surfaces

I swear by the SteelSeries 5L gaming surface. There is just the right amount of firmness an cushion, plus no slipping on your desk. Check it out:

I have the same setup now and love it. I hadn't had a mousepad in years and I must say that it does in fact make a huge difference. Gaming for hours and the smooth surface reduces fatigue considerably.

Its a subjective subject and everyone has their favourites. I really like my Ratzpad with my Razr Mamba. Your mileage may vary.

    Re: Optical question

Don't know if those reviews posted cover this, but if you get a Laser mouse, generally you want to have a hard gaming surface (as in, hard mouse pad). The weight changes can cause the mouse "wander" around the screen without the mouse itself moving at all. It happens a lot if you are a speakers gamer (or listening to music while doing stuff), versus a Headphone gamer. The vibrations from the sound of your speakers cause the mouse mat to vibrate a tiny bit without moving the mouse on top of it, but the laser in the mouse sees that movement and moves the mouse on screen

I use a softmat (Razer Goliathus Extended) with my Mamba, and whenever I am watching netflix or listening to music I have to take my mouse off the mat and put it on it's charger or move the mouse over to the next monitor where it won't go over anything by accident. When I do game without my headphones on, I will notice my mouse accuracy decrease, especially when having to make steady shots (if there is a lot of sound events going on).

Doesn't make me love my mouse mat and mouse any less though, when I need seriousness time, I put on the headphones and I have no issues. I had the same Rocketfish hard mat that the others had, didn't like it. Was raised just slightly too high for me, and didn't stay put in one spot enough for my liking. Gave it to my brother, and he loves it.

Oh, and not only will a mouse mat make you a better gamer in most cases, it will also means the feet on your mouse last much longer as well.

Yeah... I use the control side and just crank the DPI up on my mouse.
