    CPU: Intel Core i7 960
    CPU Fan: Zalman CNPS11X Extreme
    MOBO: ASUS Rampage III

You should go Sandy bridge! They're more powerful and use less power. Plus, you can use dual channel RAM, which is cheaper!
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

No its not. I just got so frustrating trying to work around in my old mid tower case. Straight pain in my ass. And i was going to go with the Sandy Bridge, but i was hearing some iffy things about the motherboards that took it. I was reading around on some websites and the i7 is good for video editing and what not, but it also got a lot of good reviews from gamers.

Go with this board "ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z68",just use 2 out of the four ram slots/the 2 that Asus say to use. 2x4gb = 8gb memory.
    Newegg.com - ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

    CPU 2600K Newegg.com - Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I72600K

    g.skill ram 2133mhz Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL

    Re: New Rig

Yeah, i've done more research and it turns out that about 90% of the people at Tom's Hardware believe the i5-2500K Sandy Bridge is the best gaming CPU on the market right now. The only real difference between the 2500 and the 2600 is that the 2500 doesnt have hyperthreading. Hyperthreading is great if i want to run a bunch of programs at once, but i never do. And also, if you really look at the specs on both of them, there is a $100 difference and they are almost identical in performance. Plus some people have apparently overclocked the 2500 up to 4.5 ghz without the CPU even breaking a sweat.

I think ya'll have made a believer out of me, ill be going the road of the 1155 mobo lol. Ive crunched the numbers and ill save damn near $150 and get more gaming performance. And Suka, you were right, the i7 960 is mainly for video editors. I didnt do enough research, thats for sure. Thanks for all the help guys!!

And how about this motherboard? Newegg.com - ASUS P8P67 DELUXE (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
From what ive read it is excellent for the 2500k.

    Re: New Rig

    And i think im gonna go with this memory: Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM
Its designed specifically for a P67 mobo and has good timing (8-8-8-24). And also the pretty much universal response is that 1600 is the Sandy Bridge's sweet spot. From the research i have done, 2133 memory is kinda gimmicky.

Alright. So here is the revised version of my rig.
Case: Xclio Advanced (Black Finish) Full Tower
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k Sandy Bridge
    CPU Fan: Zalman CNPS11X Extreme
MOBO: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe LGA 1155
Video Card: EVGA SuperClocked GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB DDR3
    RAM: G-Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (12800)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM 32Mb Cache
Power Supply: Corsair Enthusiast Series 850W

Thanks again guys. Yall saved me $160!!!

Yeah thats a great board. $90 more you can get the i7 2600k cpu. eight threads is like having an 8 core.
