A few notes about starship combat
we will simplify it milt. while the Lurking Mastermind region has an identical solar system to Sol (mirror universer??) our surroundings will be diffent. Traveler has a nice hex grid system and methods of populating star systems as well (I've mickeymoused a spreadsheet for it (also in prep of the future online game) but some basics %'s will be needed to be worked out first.
Mainly star density % of a hex having a star system in it. This could be anywhere from say 10% (distant rim zone) 25-35% (average zone in traveler was at 33% {2/6}) or even as high as 50% (core zone of a galaxy)
Once I have the basic % we wish to use, I'll generate a grid of our surrounding area and post for all. We will then work our way through exploring (wize folks will work our routes through the various stars) Once one of us gets to a star system they can generate it (I'll work on a fairly easy conversion of the current output to something easy to copy paste to the forums. Systems that have gas giants will be good for refueling.
Also in that system check we'll need to find out if it's an empty system or if it has inhabitants and also it has a visiting star folk (we also need to work out these percentages) Habitable will only need to be checked the first time we explore, but visitors (a low percentage) should be periodically checked.
