06-04-11, 03:21 PM #1Weird Internet problem
Right, so the past week we've had a problem come up twice. A restart has fixed it, but I would like to know what's going on to be proactive about the situation.
The problem is that any process (Chrome, IE, or anything that needs to connect to a webserver) can't access the internet, BUT I can still ping websites with no packet loss. Tracerts come back normal, too.
Any thoughts?enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

Re: Weird Internet problem
something to check, when you are having this problem give the router a feel.... and visual inspection. How hot is it? does any of the plastic look discolored?
I have seen this before and it was my moden that was burning itself up..... a quick cal to verizon fixed it with a new modem, no charge..... seen similar with routers and cable modems....-- Intentionally Left Blank --

Re: Weird Internet problem
next time it happens.
netstat -ano
See if there is anything unusual here. And a good way to test if its just port 80 is trying a secure site. since that goes through the SSL port.
My initial feeling is its probably some background process (such as google notifier etc) that is triggering your OS/Firewall to break down and stop moving traffic over certain ports.
