ATI Radeon 5570
So a few months back I got a lot of Best Buy store credit for something that happened. There was nothing in particular I needed at the time but a gaming machine so I ended up just going with a prebuilt that was on a great sale at the time. During price matching it would have only been 20 or so dollars less to make the same machine. Naturally I just bought it.. For those of you who are wondering, it's a Gateway FX6840.
Well, being a gaming rig that falls in the mid range it has it's ups and downs. 8 gig of DDR5 ram + 870 i7 isn't shabby at all. 1T storage. The usual. However, the 5570 graphics card is lacking a bit I believe compared to the rest. Here in a few months BF3 releases. I am not the best with all of this so I am coming here to ask....
Will the ATI 5570 be able to run BF3? The rest of my computer is fit for the job. The card is DX11 capable but that doesn't mean shit. Input would be greatly appreciated.Speed. I am speed.

I think it will because I have the same card and I can run all of my source games at full, but only time will tell.
P.S. I am my no means comparing lol the source with the BF3 engine lol but give me some other games close to BF3 and I will tell you how I run them.
OK I can run UE3 games at full as well that is a better exampleLast edited by i8pptuakamonstercam; 06-10-11 at 09:43 PM.

Re: ATI Radeon 5570
I have yet to boost a game all the way that has hurt it. This includes Crysis, BC2, UT3 and Bioshock 2. Those are the hardest games I think I own. The card has ripped through everything I've put it through so far but the bandwidth extremely worries me as BF3 will be a whole new level.

Let's hold on here... Source games at full are not the same as running BC2 or Crysis at full.
Crysis Warhead:
AnandTech - AMD
Far Cry 2
AnandTech - AMD
Left 4 Dead
AnandTech - AMD
This card really struggles with any resolution above 1280x1024, so don't expect good performance with anything other than a 19" monitor. Also, that Core i7-870 is a great CPU. You shouldn't bottleneck your system with an entry level graphics card. You could have a great gaming rig if you just drop another $150-200 in for a decent GPU.

Re: ATI Radeon 5570
Well, as I said, I bought it as a prebuilt and this is the card it came with. But I run it on a 1920x1080 23in screen. It runs Crysis (not Warhead), L4D and all perfectly fine. I mean, I have it buffed all the way and I don't notice any graphical lag at all and I'm not even overclocked.
As someone mentioned above, I think I am looking into the 5770 but what draws me away from it is it will be outdated relatively soon. The nice thing about that card, though, is it is basically the same as the 5800 series, as far as the actual perks on the card, just with less bandwidth. So, for further down the road, two of them running together actually runs really well and overclocks pretty damn well.Speed. I am speed.

I recommend just waiting till BF3 comes out and playing it on your machine if it so really shitty or something then buy new card.

Re: ATI Radeon 5570
I am the kind of person who always plays games on extreme though. I enjoy seeing the beauty of a game and how it is supposed to look. Of course, I'd live without antisoptric and all but I want at least the textures and all maxed which, from my research, it won't be able to handle?
