Question on internet service.
Currently i have roadrunner with up to 10 mbps. I had someone from cetury link stop by and offer 25mbps at 15 bucks less. I also know there is 40 mbps as well. I tried to get an answer from both companies, because they both list "up to" in front of those numbers, what the minimuim acceptable mbps would be under the plans according to their company. Neither could answer my question. So my question here is would the upgrade be worth the money if i went with 40 mbps?

Re: Question on internet service.
up to means that if there is network congestion or too many people on your circuit you will not get the advertised rate. it also means that if you are too far away, have older wiring etc and can't reach the full 40mb you still have to pay them regardless. Its BS. I get 20MB during the day and 2mb at night because the circuit in my area reaches 90%+ utilization during prime time. This also takes by ping during the day from 40ms to 200ms during prime time. They are working on splitting my area into 2 circuits instead of 1 but they have been telling me that for 6 months. I would find out if they have a 30 day trial and if you don't like it you can cancel. Then you can keep your current one, try the knew one for a month at the same time and then decide. If you have a stable connection with low latency you can actually get by with 2mb plan just fine. If you do video streaming (netflix, hulu) etc to a HTPC like I do then a bigger plan is worth the money. You will notice no real gains in just gaming with 40mb plan. Its only really noticeable when you have multilple people on and streaming at the same time as gaming.
