By all accounts, the best one available from a purely speed perspective is the OCZ Vertex 3. But it may not be what you are looking for. If you are truly only wanting to do just a boot drive, you could probably get away with a very small drive in the 30 to 60 GB range. But doing that would mostly just improve your boot time. Most everything else would be the same performance you have now. Were it my hard-earned cash, I would save up and get a higher capacity so that things that can benefit from the fast access like games would also be on the SSD. Boot-up time is not really important IMHO on a desktop. Maybe on a laptop or netbook, but to me that is irrelevant on a desktop.

I have a 60 GB OCZ Vertex 2 as my boot. I am happy with it so far, but the Intel 320 drives tend to get the best reviews.

Intel has definitely led the pack from the beginning. Crucial was an early adopter of Sata III, but if you read the reviews, there were lots of problems with forceware issues. Intel hasn't had problems like that.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.
