    FPS Issues?

So I just moved the other day and I tried getting on CSS for the first time since the move and my fps start out at 120 ish and once I'm alive and playing my fps drops to about 30 or 40 and just gets extremely choppy. I ran a video stress test, and lowered some settings but it's still complete crap.

I also opened up the case and everything is fine, nothing overly dusty or not running (at least from what I can tell). The only thing I can think of is the fact that I'm running off wireless, but I figured that would be ping and not fps.

    Any ideas?

See if the issue persists with a direct wired connection to the router, if possible.

Any recent change in video drivers? If so, roll back to the previous drivers and see if that helps. Also, use some type of software to monitor your video card's temperature (e.g., HWMonitor) and make sure it's not a heat issue. Since there's a possibility your move knocked something loose, I'd suggest you remove and re-seat the video card and all GPU power connectors.

Issue is that my mega cable (25') must have gotten crimped or something and is no longer functioning. I'll have to try and move a splitter to move it over.

Otherwise I'll try to reseat everything.

    Re: FPS Issues?

I think I figured it out. It was only against 3 people but my fps was locked at 125 again.

Turned my wireless extender from an extender to just participating in the network. I guess it's basically functioning as a glorified wireless card for my PC.

Brought my speed test from about 1.5mb/s to about 6, so hopefully that's all I needed.

Thanks for the help sir! (The HWM Monitor is spiffy)

I don't understand how your internet connection has anything to do with frames per second. They are completely separate.

Clean your pc, hardware, software and registry.

    Update drivers, delete useless stuff.

Have at least 25-30% HDD space free.

    Have 40-50% ram free.

Make sure if you're on a notebook, to have it have proper ventilation, put a book under it, so it rises, lame, but works. Or better yet, buy a laptop cooler thingy. If you're on a desktop, buy some fans, won't kill you.

Bottom line from me is, if it worked before, and doesn't anymore, it's a maintenance issue.
Australian-I feel for ya bro gaming on a piece of shit you should be twice as good at any game you play. Thats really really a scary thought. Part of me does not want you to get a new rig.

That's what I always thought, but I didn't have any issues during the test so I'm confused as well.

Packet loss would have nothing to do with it...

My HDD has plenty of space and my CPU / Ram are not going above 40 - 45% so that's not an issue either. Graphics cards were seated fine so I don't get why my shit is just going crazy suddenly.

    Re: FPS Issues?

I tried turning off SLI, removing the two graphics cards and swapping their locations, re-enabling SLI and still nothing.

I can't figure out if it's something config related that suddenly changed, or if my computer is going crazy... Checked for any recent installs and the only ones I have are drivers from the 16th and I know I've played between then and now and didn't have an issue.

    Re: FPS Issues?

So after everything I've tried so far I've come to believe that it's CSS (and other orange box games), since I don't have any issues on other games that I tested on.
