Hey,
I'm thinking of making a physics resource website.
What's a good domain name registration company? I mean, there's always GoDaddy, but I've heard a lot people give that company the middle finger.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

I like hostgator. Prices are reasonable, service is excellent, and they have a good amount of existing templates to use. The one drawback is that they don't offer windows servers (unless you want to pay out the nose for a dedicated server) so you won't be able to use asp.net with them.
They do offer php, ruby, perl, and other languages, iirc. I would stick to html and css as much as possible.

If you want to create a .net based website, try out the visual studio web developer express ide. .net hostimg is more expensive, though. If you will be designing in java, netbeans and eclipse are both good tools. For html and css, I can recommend any of the above as well as notepad++.
