adding more memory wont matter untill you get 64 bit windows. then get like 4 gigs 8 at the most.

what in your cycle that your sitting at 2.9 anyway?

I am sure he already has 64 bit. You could make a RAM disk out of half of that memory. Put your most commonly used files on it. This would make things load unbelievably fast... even faster than an SSD. The only drawback is that your boot and shut down times would be longer as you would write these files to the memory at every boot, and back on to your hard disk at shut down.

That is really the only reason I would get THAT much memory. I am fine with my 8 GB for now.

I just like knowing it's there... I don't ride my hayabusa 186mph everywhere I go either. But it's comforting to know that I CAN if I want.

Yeah I've been running 64bit every since I started running vista way back when. I used to run a VM or two on this machine as well so I went 12 gig initially. Gave the VM 4 gig and left 8 for the hardware. There's plenty of reasons to have more than 4 or 8. But this? This is mostly just vanity.
