Re: Building New PC
Wow, that is a deal. Thank you. The last CPU cooler I bought was a Cooler Mater Hyper 6 plus.
Everything is on its way now except I haven't purchased the cpu cooler and SSD yet. With the news Viktor has shared, I'll likely go ahead and move on the cooler.
What I do not know is how to use the SSD and what I gain from it. I'll try to dig through the threads and see if there has been a conversation on why I would have an SSD and how I would use it.Last edited by Amador +JP2+; 11-11-11 at 09:49 AM.

Faster load/read speeds that will actually utilize Sata III. Much lower power consumption. No noise. Next to no heat.
As for using it. It should have a 2.5-3.5" adapter. It is also has a power and data connection just like on a normal HDD. Very easy to set up!enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Re: Building New PC
Make sure your SSD's SATA channel is set to use AHCI and not IDE mode. There is an important SSD maintenance utility built into Win Vista/7 that cleans up the SSD improving it's efficiency and preventing it from bogging down. Google AHCI and TRIM for more information. Also, some drives are picky and will have problems if not using AHCI.
Set the SATA channel mode prior to installing Windows so Windows will install with the correct driver.

Re: Building New PC
Well it looks like the SSD will arrive tomorrow. All the rest of the components have arrived and are ready to go. I hope to start my build in the afternoon/evening. It would only be perfect if it was Chistmas day.
Thank you all again for the help and advice. If all goes well, I will be rolling in BF3 and PR once again in the very near future!

Re: Building New PC
Okay ... System has been up and running for a little while ... I do have an unusual message when it boots up, but I'll post about that soon. I'll also grap a picture of the desktop with the lights on and running and post that up in the thread above. Until then, here are some pictures of the build (sorry about the contrast ... should have taken the picts on a lighter background I suppose):

Open system - everything is installed and good to go:
Thank you again to all of you for helping me piece this together. It runs everything on high graphics and fast. Thank you!
