Anyone found one with a decent shuffle? Default and playerpro shuffle blows.

It seems that playerpro has an affinity for 20-30 tracks (here-on referred to as 'commons'), which reoccur waaaay to frequently. Every so often, a truely random song gets selected, but the 20-30 commons dominate the playlist. Interestingly, the only way that seems to make playerpro pick new commons, is by rebooting the phone. Even hard killing playerpro doesnt seem to do clear the 20-30 commons.



Before any claim that its just selective attention making it appear like its the same 20-30 commons, I assure you its quite obvious that its the same songs.


It seems playerpro's selection of commons, has an increasing affinity for larger albums, i see repeat tracks appear countlessly, and usually the same small subset from a specific track (i.e. i might have an album of 20 songs, 4-5 become commons, and i see those same 4-5 tracks nearly every 3-4 songs on shuffle). For example, right now, out of the 700 or so songs... i've got albums with more than 6 tracks. At this moment, forwarding through songs on a playlist via "songs->playall -> shuffle on"... out of 20 songs, 8 of them are from the same track, and from that 8, 3 songs played twice (meaning only 5 unique songs from that track appeared from the aforementioned 8)!


Statistically, thats insane (trust me, i know statistics), randomly picking 20 items from a subset of 700 items, and having 8 of those items being related should be quite improbable, let alone 3 items being selected twice and this outcome happens over and over, which should be even MORE improbable! Additionally, countless (300+) songs never appear in a session, regardless of how many hundreds of times i spam the 'next song' button.


QED shuffle is not random on the droidx (2.3.3 verizon) and appears to replace previously selected items back into the list of selectable/playable songs (rather than every single song playing once in shuffle, aka being selected and removed from the subset of selectable songs, its instead placed back in). If this is intended, then i'd love it if a option was added to force that each song in the library play once in shuffle before any song can be played twice.

do you have a data limit? i use Google's music program which streams from the cloud it has shuffle which I've used its pretty good. and it has their google mix think ITunes genius.

I'm a fan of google music personally.

It is one of the options that you can access from the play menu just like repeat. It is the same menu that is in repeat actually.

That's what i have been using (thanks again, WileE ). I like it.
I put all of my music into 4 folders....Pock, Pop, Metal, and Country (shaddup). I can shuffle in the individual folders, or from the whole library. PowerAmp seems to do a decent job, all the way around.
