    CPU maxed

So my CPU is maxing out when playing BF3 and I'm thinking about upgrading it. I am wondering if you guys think I can get away with just upgrading my CPU for a bit or if I should go for a whole MB, CPU, Memory combo deal. My memory looks fine when I run task manager have about 6GB free. My motherboard says it takes What is your advice and what would you recommend??

I currently have the following processors

    Intel Socket 775 Core™2 Quad/Pentium® Extreme/Pentium® D/Pentium® 4/Celeron Processors
    Compatible with Intel® 05B/05A/06 processors
    Support Intel® 45nm CPU

Here is my current rig below

    MB - Asus P5N-E SLI
    CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66 GHz
    Memory - 8GB 400 MHz DDR2 800

Should I go quad core or do you think I will see any improvement if I buy a dual core 3.4GHz?

Time for a new platform man. You wont be able to get much of a boost from any processor on 775.

Get yourself a nice Sandybridge i5 or i7 and watch your machine dominate BF3.

Ok well I've been out of the game I would like to stay with and ASUS motherboard can you recommend a good MB/CPU combo? Do you like any of these?

I would really like to keep it under 400. I will have to buy more RAM when I do this too since I am going to build another computer out of my old one.

any quad core will do the trick. however 775 quads are in that strange out of production expensive phase. if you can find one localy or from a friend you could get more life from your 775.

your kinda in the whole banana boat. you can get a new mobo mem and i5k for like 400 i think. even cheaper if you went amd 300'ish
